Anglia Ruskin Glass Safety Audit and Safety Works

Glazing Safety Audit

Founded in 1858 Anglia Ruskin University has circa 40,000 students worldwide, and campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough. As well as a modern new build campus at Chelmsford, the University boasts numerous heritage buildings at its Cambridge and Peterborough sites.

The facilities management team at the University were aware that their older building stock had not been audited for some time, and that some of the glazing might not be compliant under current health and safety regulations

Regulation 14

All employers have a legal obligation to ensure that their workplaces are safe under Health and Safety Law.

Regulation 14 sets out the minimum standards for glazing and has been a legal requirement since 1992. As industry leading experts, ARC Window Films offer a range of glass safety audits to help clients understand the regulations and what is required to achieve compliance.

Glass Safety Audit

An extensive Glass Safety Audit was undertaken of all glazing in each of the 32 buildings across the 3 campuses. A full report was produced which outlined areas of non-compliance, and recommendations to make such areas compliant.

Glass Safety Film

Glass Safety Film is an effective, low cost method used by many universities to upgrade old glazing and make it compliant with current regulations. Using our Glazing Safety Audit works were scheduled in around the university timetable so as to not interrupt the academic calendar.

Following the installation of the glass safety film the glazing at Anglia Ruskin University is safe for students, and fully compliant with current health and safety regulations.
