Reducing Heat Gain at The Dorchester
Hotel Window Film has always been a popular solution for Hotels and Guest Houses. Whether it is to reduce overheating in rooms, to reduce heat and glare in restaurant areas, or simply in attempt to save on HVAC expenditure, window film is a simple and practical solution that delivers immediate results.
Improving the Dorchester
The Dorchester is a 5 star luxury hotel located on Park Lane and Deanery Street in Mayfair, London. It is one of the world’s most prestigious hotels.
The estates team at the Dorchester were looking to improve the performance of the glazing in order to improve comfort for guests, and as part of their environmental commitment to reduce energy use.
The grade 2 listed status of the hotel restricts the use of any solution which would alter its iconic appearance. Fortunately, a range of Window Films exist that are virtually clear, and are designed to improve the performance of glazing in listed buildings without changing its appearance.
ARC Window Films are industry leading experts in all types of Window Film, and were of course delighted to assist The Dorchester.
Window Film Installation
Following a survey and analysis of the existing glazing, ARC Window Films specified, supplied, and installed a high performance spectrally selective window film to the entire south facing façade.
The window film will reduce overheating, and improve comfort for guests. Also, due to its virtually clear appearance, it does not alter the iconic appearance of the hotel. The view through the windows is unchanged in both directions.
The luxury of choice
In selecting a supplier for the window films the Dorchester approached several window film installers. As ARC Window Films are fully independent we were able to offer the Dorchester a wide range of solutions, offering the best options from the entire market. With this freedom available to us we are always able to offer the best solution available to any given challenge.
The virtually clear, high light transmission film has improved the performance of the existing glazing without changing the appearance of the hotel. The comfort of guests has been improved, and the view through the glazing remains unchanged.
