Secure Your Windows
As we see a rise in the number of residential break-ins, you’re probably wondering what you can do to secure your home and personal belongings.
Security window film can be applied to current glazing to increase the strength, holding the broken glass in place after impact and deter access to all but the most determined intruders!
Be proactive with security window film
You may already have security measures in place such as CCTV cameras and burglar alarms. However, these methods are reactive (a burglar alarm will be set off after someone has already gained entry into the house.)
Security window film takes the proactive approach, strengthening the glazing and holding it together after impact, making it much for difficult for burglars to actually gain entry into your home.
Why security window film is so popular
- Increase security and help slow down intruders
- 24/7 protection
- Cost efficient solution to improve security
- Quick, non disruptive installation process
- No additional maintenance
- Completely clear and unnoticeable once installed
What options are available?
Our entry level security window film is a heavy duty 175 micron thick protective layer that is installed on the inside (room side) of your glazing. It helps to hold glass in place should the pane become smashed.
For added protection (or even as an alternative) we also offer a 200 micron thick external window film, which is installed to the outside surface of the glass. This film has additional (clear) coatings on it that protect it from the weather and allows it to last for over 10 years outside.
Protection can be improved further by adding an edge retention system which attaches to both the glass and window frame, but these are mainly used in commercial settings as they are either not compatible with residential windows, or not visually pleasing once installed.
For most residential installations, an internal security film is enough to deter smash and grab intruders. For additional protection against a determined intruder a combination of internal and external film gives maximum protection.
Out of sight, out of mind
We also have a range of combination "solar and safety" window films, which give the benefits above but can also act as a one way mirror. If the thieves cannot see through the glass, they are less likely to risk entry.
How long will installation take?
Once tools have been set up and the films cut to size, each pane takes around 10 minutes to upgrade – meaning a whole property can usually be secured in a single morning.
How long will the products last?
Security window films are warrantied for 10 years, but will last far in excess of this.
How is it cleaned?
The security window film can be cleaned in the same method as normal glass – with soapy water and a soft towel. Avoid any harsh abrasives and cleaning chemicals such as ammonia.
