UV Protection for Lady Lever
Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight contains outstanding British eighteenth and nineteenth century paintings, wedgwood, tapestries, embroideries, roman sculpture and greek vases.
As many of the exhibitions are delicate and fragile, they were at risk of damage from the natural light which entered through the overhead glazing.
The Facilities Management team at Lady Lever were reluctant to lose the benefit of natural light, but were keen to protect the longevity of the priceless works of art.
As experts in UV Protection, fade reduction, and the optimisation of natural light, ARC Window Films were chosen as the preferred partner to assist.
After meeting with the Facilities Management team on site to ascertain exact requirements, a range of UV Protection products were chosen to optimise the lighting in each gallery.
ARC Window Films installed a combination of ARC CK and ARC MK products across the different galleries. The products offer excellent UV Protection, filtering out over 99% of damaging UV rays. They also reduce overheating and annoying glare. The light diffusing properties of the products also ensure that the exhibitions are equally lit, improving the viewing experience for visitors.
The installation was completed externally so as to minimise disruption to staff and visitors, so that the exhibitions could remain open during works. Although the products go unnoticed now installed, they will help to protect the artwork for many years to come.
